About Us

The Emerson Brown partnership began in the summer of 2005. Keith Emerson and Brian Brown met with an equal desire to produce excellent, artisan Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon through disciplined winegrowing and winemaking techniques. Their shared philosophy in fine wine production maintains consistency in balance and style, while preserving elegance from vintage to vintage.

The focus on handcrafting excellent Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon begins in Brown’s family vineyard, III Michaels Estate which is located on the eastern bench in Oakville. A mature vineyard, III Michaels Estate has a well-established root system growing on well-drained soil that allows the vines to come into balance, with little manipulation. The vineyard imparts familiar characteristics of black fruits, dark shaved cocoa and cassis reflective of classic Oakville Cabernets. The pedigree of the neighborhood cannot be argued either. Within a stone’s throw are notable properties such as PlumpJack, Rudd, Beckstoffer Vineyard George III and Joseph Phelps Backus Vineyard.

The opportunity to produce the wine at Vineyard 29, a state-of-the-art, gravity-flow facility in St. Helena, provides an environment where the wine can be handled with utmost care. Assuring the grapes are carefully processed and vinified under optimal conditions is essential. Through gentle, meticulous handling from vine to bottle Emerson and Brown are able to achieve a focused wine, full of expressive flavors with a balanced tannin and acid profile.

We hope you enjoy Emerson Brown Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley as much as we enjoy making it.
